I work in textiles not to express myself, but to connect with a timeless creativity, and allow its discourse to be born from the ethers.
Intuition is my trailhead for creating artifacts, clothing, and creatures in fiber. An otherworldly longing arrives, and I pursue it without a plan or known destination. Highly unstructured and unpredictable, the work feels alive upon inception. I follow its premise by both shaping the emerging form and watching it take shape. Momentum is built and lost, built and lost, until each next step announces itself. All I control is my own determination and devotion until it is finished. Approaching with reverence towards creativity’s deepest potentials, I am consistently humbled by the process and results. I stretch myself, and remember each journey like an elusive dream. My passion for textiles knows no bounds. Textiles are inseparable from the presence of humanity. Textiles assert meaning without words. They engage the senses on a primal, instinctual level that trickles up to prompt the mind into an imaginative state. Textiles articulate a complex and emotional language of their own, defying explanation and demanding keener awareness. I work in textiles not to express myself, but to connect with a timeless creativity, and allow its discourse to be born from the ethers. Instead of understanding the results, I begin a new relationship with them. What are they communicating with me? What do they call to the surface that would have remained intangible? The feelings generated by these questions reveal an inner, ever-evolving landscape. My hope is to share this deep stirring with others who wish to embark on a mystical relationship of their own.
