“Transcendent Fields” is a reflection of inner realities. It urges the viewer to ask: What is the reality of our natural world? Memory is unreliable andreality is malleable. Here, Williams collaborates with the universe.Williams’ art emanates a surreal essence, crafted with the aid of computers using both custom and commercial software. These “photomashes”as he calls them, take normal, representative photographs and mix and layer them to create new visions with an unusual dimensionality.Included in the show are works printed on paper, aluminum and lenticular. Lenticular is a printing process created by layering images under alens to give the illusion of depth on a normally flat surface. When the viewer moves around these 2D pieces, they unveil a transformative 3Dexperience. The interplay creates an almost holographic effect, captivating viewers with its dynamic visual narrative. These artworks are informed by Williams’ background with synthesizers and computers. He creates visual art using the computer much like anaudio synthesizer, that is, to process visual samples he has collected through the lens of his camera.“I try to step back and become an observer of my creative process. My constant collaborator is the universe, that is I use randomness, synchronicityand algorithmic processes to take over part of my creative mechanics. Each reality is unique and an exploration and expression of my inner reality.”Several works in this exhibition will be accompanied by music composed by Williams in the form of audio headset and QR codes, easilyaccessed through smart phones.
