My art serves as an emotional outlet, a space where creation and destruction intermingle until something meaningful begins to emerge.
My art serves as an emotional outlet, a space where creation and destruction intermingle until something meaningful begins to emerge. I typically start with marks made in charcoal or pastels, gradually building layers with acrylic or sometimes spray paint. This initial process is a way to unlock creativity and enter a flow state rather than to define a final image. Recently, my work has taken on a more political tone, reflecting the turmoil and destructive climate present in today’s world. These pieces are an outpouring of emotion, a necessary release for feelings and situations beyond my control.
The subject matter of my work is drawn from daily news, music, feelings, and the stress of life. There is no premeditated scene; rather, the work evolves organically as I immerse myself into the creative process. Inspiration comes from many sources—other artists, music, a sense of purpose combined with humor, and the drive provided by political activism.
Technically, my work is never truly finished. If a painting rests too long in my studio, it changes, whether subtly or dramatically. I experiment with textures, layering glazes, and incorporating drawing elements to add depth and complexity. This constant evolution and willingness to revisit each piece make my art a dynamic and unique reflection of my ongoing emotional and creative journey.
