Scott Hovis
The Weight of Wakefulness, 2025
Acrylic on Canvas
30" x 40"
I painted in the raw edge of exhaustion, when sleep deprivation blurs the line between reality and dream. This piece was born from the urgency to break free of comfort, to let instinct guide each stroke instead of control. Layers of heavy texture and fractured flesh tones reveal the vulnerability of a mind caught between collapse and clarity.
It’s a portrait of persistence — of pushing past limits until something unfamiliar and true emerges.
