Scott Hovis II is an abstract expressionist painter based in El Paso, Texas. His work blends gestural
mark-making and layered color fields, drawing viewers into spaces that feel both unrestrained and
deeply personal.
Self-taught and committed to his craft, Scott’s creative journey has been shaped by
resilience and self-discovery. Living with Tourette’s Syndrome, he transforms personal challenges into
bold, emotional canvases that celebrate chaos as much as they embrace beauty. Over the past several
years, Scott has exhibited in solo and group shows across Texas and beyond, including The Purple
Gallery, Zephyr Contemporary, and the International Museum of Art in El Paso. His paintings are held
in private collections in Los Angeles, El Paso, Fort Worth, and Victoria, BC. Scott’s work has also been
featured by the Tourette’s Syndrome Association of America and in ABC-7 El Paso’s Be Mindful mental
health series.
